Where Are Replica Watches Made?

alex Manufacturing Process

Why would you purchase a replica watch and pay it as much as you would pay an authentic watch? There are many reasons. In the first place, most buyers do not possess the knowledge to defeat counterfeiters, which is why the most naïve ones usually end up frauded, especially when they search for great bargains.

But let’s admit it, the blame can not be put on the buyer only, even though we tend to be more severe with them to prompt them to learn more about watches, if they intend buying expensive watches.

Now, the main problem is that most replica watches have the writing “Swiss made” incised, so it is very difficult to tell the difference between a fake and an authentic watch. However, the ugly truth is that 90% of replica watches are made in Asian countries, especially in Taiwan, China and Thailand, where labor rates are below the US and European standards and counterfeiters have replica watchers manufactured in the same factories where important brands manufacture legitimate parts of their watches.

Hi-end replica watches have Swiss-made movements but they are quite rare. You may easily understand if a watch is not authentic by simply looking at its movement, since replica watch movements are usually made in Japan or China.

How Do You Know if a Watch is Authentic?

alex Buying replica watches

There are a few techniques you may learn to appraise a watch as to determine whether or not it is authentic. If you are considering buying a watch from a store, you might want to bring a few pictures of that store with you, watch videos regarding that watch and read its specs, which are usually listed on the watch manufacturer’s official website.

Dedicate some time to studying the watch you are interested in before purchasing it from any retailer or you may start by looking around for watches and when you find one that you like, go back home to do some research before taking out your wallet.

However, making an accurate appraisal by simply analyzing videos and pictures can be tricky, as not even watch evaluation experts can do that. If you can not understand whether a watch is authentic despite having seen it and touched it, the best thing to do is to hire an expert who will assist you in your “watch shopping”. If you have already bought a watch and would like to be sure of its authenticity, send it back to the manufacturer and ask them to evaluate it.
